Lazio is targeting young Southampton midfielder Carlos Alcaraz, who previously had a short stint at Juventus. The 21-year-old, a product of Racing Club, was signed by Southampton in January 2023. Despite joining Juventus on loan last winter with a buy option of around €50 million, Alcaraz failed to make a significant impact, leading Juventus to look for other options.
However, Lazio is still interested in Alcaraz, with the club’s sporting director Angelo Fabiani reportedly impressed by the player. Due to his young age, Lazio would have no trouble registering him, as he wouldn’t take up a spot on the senior team.
Lazio is looking to bring Alcaraz to Formello on a loan deal with a purchase option. Whether Southampton would be open to a similar arrangement as with Juventus remains to be seen. The upcoming friendly match between Lazio and Southampton could provide an opportunity for direct discussions, as Alcaraz’s contract with Southampton runs until June 2028.
