Lazio’s Alessio Romagnoli has been given a one-match ban following his red card in the recent Serie A match against Juventus, as reported by Il Corriere dello Sport. The 29-year-old was sent off for a reckless tackle on Pierre Kalulu, his former teammate at Milan, which was initially missed by the referee but picked up by VAR.
This early dismissal left Lazio with 10 men for most of the game, making it difficult for them to secure a positive result at the Allianz Stadium. Despite their efforts, they eventually succumbed to a late own goal.
The sports judge decided to suspend Romagnoli for one match, the standard punishment for a straight red card. This ruling was also applied to Tijjani Reijnders for a similar offense. Romagnoli will sit out Lazio’s upcoming game against Genoa but will be eligible to play against Como on October 31st. Manager Marco Baroni is expected to include him in the starting lineup for the Europa League match against Twente on Thursday.
