Spezia are closing in on a new managerial appointment following the dismissal of former head coach Luca Gotti early last week.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, the Ligurian side is finalising an agreement with former SPAL and Cagliari manager Leonardo Semplici to become the new technician of the club’s first team.

The sides have been in talks for nearly a week but they’ve reportedly made headway within the last few hours with only the last details still outstanding.

The parties are pushing to complete negotiations by tomorrow to ensure Semplici is given enough time to prepare for the team’s next league fixture, which takes place Sunday away to Udinese.
