Lazio president Claudio Lotito revealed his side have ended their pursuit of Napoli midfielder Piotr Zielinski—their top choice to replace the recently departed Sergej Milinković-Savić.
Lotito announced the negotiations between the Biancocelesti and Polish international, the top choice of manager Maurizio Sarri, collapsed after the player preferred to remain with the Partenopei.
“Piotr is out now,” Lotito explained to Il Messaggero. “He ended all the discussions last night.”
“He ultimately decided his preference was to remain in Napoli by signing a contract renewal at a figure lower than what we were offering him.”
After extensive transfer rumors, Zielinski seems ready to ink a new deal and extend his tenure with the defending champions.
