Italy FA chief Gabriele Gravina has zeroed in on former Roma, Inter, and Napoli manager Luciano Spalletti for the country’s national team bench.
Following Roberto Mancini’s decision to resign earlier this week, La Gazzetta dello Sport reports Spalletti is in line to be named the new manager of Gli Azzurri following an extensive negotiation with the FIGC.
Late yesterday, the two sides held an extensive telephone meeting and overcame the minor doubts the Tuscan initially had about accepting the post.
The deal is expected to be announced over the coming days while Spalletti could be presented to the media as early as Monday in Rome.
