Inter striker Romelu Lukaku insisted the Scudetto race is still open despite Napoli’s eight point gap at the top of the Serie A table.
The two sides meet on Wednesday in Milano when Serie A resumes following the two-months long World Cup break. When asked about the clash, the Belgian insists the Nerazzurri aren’t afraid of the Partenopei, who have lost only once this season.
“Until a team has their hands on and lifts the trophy, anything is possible,” he told Sky Sport when asked about his side’s Scudetto chances.
“Of course I believe in our chances (for the Scudetto), it’s why we play football. Everyone says it’s impossible for us, but let’s see which team is lifting the trophy once the season is over.”
“No one has won anything yet, there’s still six months to go. We’ve just entered January but the season ends on June 6th.”
He continued, “Napoli? Spalletti has done a great job this season, we have to say it. They’ve got really strong players.”
“I’ve seen a lot of their games, they’re in a really moment and sit on top of the table. We have respect but don’t fear them.”
