Former Milan, Napoli, and Valencia boss Gennaro Gattuso is nearing a return a bench after his departure from the Spanish side in January.
According to French outlet Footmercato, Marseille are expected to name Gattuso their new manager after Marcelino resigned last week after just seven matches in charge. The club turned to the Italian tactician this week after ex-PSG manager Christophe Galtier rebuffed their advances.
The decision caps off a chaotic week at the French side after supporter groups hit-out at the club’s senior management, including president Pablo Longoria–who temporarily stepped down from his role last week before returning to full capacity on Monday.
