Milan boss Stefano Pioli insisted youngster Rafael Leão is happy at the club despite rumors persisting the Portuguese starlet could exit this summer.
The Rossoneri have been engaged in contract renewal talks with the 23 year-old’s representatives for several months, however, the sides haven’t been able to strike an agreement.
This has led to increased speculation that Leão could leave the club in the summer when he’ll enter final year of his deal with the club.
“If we think about Rafa from two years ago, he’s made tremendous progress,” Pioli told Sky Sport.
“Though, he’s still missing something however he’s still young and isn’t a finished project. Rafa is smart and openminded so I’m sure it will come.”
“When you watch him in training you can tell right away he possesses a technical ability and agility few others have. He still has to take one more leap to become a champion.”
“His renewal? The players we have at the World Cup are obliged to call me after every game to tell me how they’re doing. Of course I’ll take advantage of this when it comes to Rafa’s contract renewal,” joked Pioli.
“But I’m certain of two things: that he is well with us, because I talk to him, and that Rafa and the club are talking. We are waiting for good news. I believe that his journey with us still isn’t over.”
