Milan manager Stefano Pioli lamented his side’s poor first half display following their 2-1 defeat in Tuscany against Fiorentina.
La Viola snapped Milan’s four match winning streak thanks to a penalty goal from Nico Gonzalez before Luka Jovic headed home in the final minutes to seal the the victory.
“Fiorentina were better than us in the first half in terms of intensity, quality, and duels won,” he told the Rossoneri’s official website.
“It was a very rough first half, not at all what I expected. We didn’t play at all the way we had prepared during the week.”
He added, “We got a bit of a spark after conceding the penalty early in the second half and we had two really good chances right afterwards.”
“It’s a shame but it just wasn’t our best night.”
