Milan have responded and addressed the reports that contract renewal talks between the club and attacker Rafael Leão were called-off after the sides reached an impasse.

An article appeared in today’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport that claimed the Portuguese international is unlikely to renew his contract with the Rossoneri after a breakdown in the discussions regarding a new contract.

“In regards to an article published today by the newspaper La Gazzettta dello Sport entitled ‘A complete rift between Leão-Milan’, AC Milan would like to clarify that there’s been no disruption in negotiations between the club and Rafael Leão,” they wrote.

“The journalistic narration of icy relations between the club player are not only unfounded, but also harmful to both parties.”

Adding, “In fact, AC Milan is continuing the dialogue with Leão and his entourage in a calm, professional manner.”
