Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan is likely to miss out on the team’s next two matches following the injury he suffered during last night’s Champions League clash against Newcastle United.

The Frenchman asked to come off in the 80th minute after he appeared to tweak a muscle in his left thigh. Luckily for the Rossoneri, subsequent scans performed earlier today ruled-out any damage to the muscle but the club will monitor Maignan on a day-to-day basis.

Though, Milan will be extra cautious with the ex-Lille man, who will certainly miss this weekend’s match against Verona and also risks not being present for the midweek match against Cagliari on 27-September.

As of now, Stefano Pioli hopes to have Maignan back for their showdown against Lazio on 30 September. In the meantime, he’ll be replaced by summer signing Marco Sportiello.
