The future of Napoli midfielder Diego Demme remains a mystery after he rejected a proposed transfer move to second-tier side Hertha Berlin.
According to Bild, the 31 year-old turned down the 2. Bundesliga outfit after they dropped their first three league matches and sit bottom of the table. He was initially intrigued by the project and seemed close to a move last week when he began following Hertha on Instagram.
However, he changed his mind after the team’s dismal start to the season which cast doubt about their chances for securing promotion back into the Bundesliga next season.
Deemed surplus to requirements by new coach Rudi Garcia, it remains to be seen whether or not Demme can find a new club before the transfer window closes next week.
