Following his team’s friendly victory yesterday over Crystal Palace, Napoli attacker Victor Osimhen discussed his career path and what life has been like since joining the club.

The Nigerian international has led the Partenopei in scoring so far this season with 10 goals in 14 matches across all competitions.

“I’m at the top of my form now and I have new objectives,” he told OmaSports TV.

“I set the standard for myself. This is the life I want to live. When things were not going so well for me, I kept on believing, kept on praying, kept working hard.”

“To get where I am today there have been a whole lot of obstacles, a whole lot of hate. They said I wouldn’t make it or they’d give me two years before loaning him out. Or they’ll say he got rejected by two clubs in Belgium.”

Adding, “They compare me with past players, I don’t want to mention names but I saw those things. Luckily I’ve been able to prove them wrong.”

“I’m playing in one of the biggest clubs in Europe, one of the best leagues in Europe, I’ve been nominated for youth player of the year and won many personal awards which felt like a huge milestone for me.”
