Previewing tomorrow’s blockbuster showdown between his side and Inter, Napoli boss Luciano Spalletti didn’t shy away from talking Scudetto ahead of the clash.

The Partenopei enter the matchup versus Simone Inzaghi’s side sitting top of Serie A with an eight point gap. Their 15-match league unbeaten streak is also on the line however, Spalletti insists his team isn’t caught up in any of the statistics.

“We aren’t heading into this game and the ones afterwards with any thoughts about our position in the table or any statistics linked to being unbeaten,” he told journalists during his pre-match press conference.

“We’re fully aware of what we’re capable of on the pitch. Our style of play is key because when you analyse tomorrow’s game and the journey that awaits us, what we’ve done so far isn’t enough and what really matters is what we do from tomorrow onwards.”

“Inter are a top European side. They’ve made serious investment in recent years and have a very strong squad.”

He continued, “They know how to keep it tight and also how to use the pitch both in terms of width and getting in behind. They have Lukaku coming back as part of an already strong attack with Dzeko and Lautaro who I know well.”

“They have real physicality and plenty of options in terms of their system, enabling them to change the game by altering their build-up play. We’ll have to strike the right balance to control the match. I think that’ll be key for us.”

Finally, the former Roma boss was asked if he can feel the weight of expectations increasing within the city following his team’s incredible start.

He confessed, “We know there’s a whole city behind us. We have to play for the pride and happiness of Naples.”

“I’m with all of you and I’ll contribute however I can. My real dream is to see this city go wild with joy. I know that everyone is talking about the Scudetto, but my real ‘obsession’ isn’t winning it for myself, but to see the Neapolitans explode with joy.”
