Veteran striker Andrea Belotti has officially left Roma after two seasons in order to join Como on a permanent deal.
The newly promoted side announced the acquisition of “il Gallo” earlier today, inking him to a two-year contract. It officially ends his lackluster stint with the Giallorossi, whom he leaves after collecting 10 goals and 4 assists in 68 total appearances.
Belotti weighed in on his decision to sign with the Biancoblu, who were promoted to Serie A for the first time in their club’s history.
“I chose Como because I was very impressed by the project presented by the coach and the ownership group,” he said.
“When talking with the coach, he detailed his football philosophy, game approach, and mentality. This was crucial for me because his mindset matches my own. As I mentioned before, I believe it is a very ambitious project with the right mindset.”
Finally, “It has everything needed to succeed.”
Asked his reaction to Belotti’s signing, Como manager Cesc Fabregas cited his vast experience in Italy’s top flight.
“We are very happy that Andrea has joined the Como family,” the Spaniard told the club’s website.
“As we embark on an exciting and important season back in Serie A, his league experience will be crucial, and we know he has the potential to be a formidable goal scorer.”
