Milan officially announced the appointment of Lille coach Paulo Fonseca as their new manager.
The Portuguese technician joins the Rossoneri on a three-year deal and marks his return to Serie A where he spent two seasons with Roma from 2019 thru 2021, guiding them to the Europa League semi-finals in his last year in charge.
The 51 year-old is back in Italy on the heels of an impressive stint in France where he compiled a record of 45W, 26D, and 19L during his two years on the bench. He’ll be tasked with refreshing a Milan side that grew stale in the two years after their league triumph in the 2021/22 season.
Following the announcement, Fonsenca wrote briefly on social media, “An honor, a pride, a responsibility. Forza Milan!”
The move marks a new era for the club after the of Pioli, who resigned at the conclusion of the 2023-24 season after five years at the helm.
