The goalkeeper swap involving Salvatore Sirigu and Pierluigi Gollini is now official.
Fiorentina and Napoli announced the respective deals this evening after both players successfully completed their medicals earlier today.
Gollini has moved to Luciano Spalletti’s side on loan from parent club Atalanta with an option to make the move permanent.
Meanwhile, the veteran Sirigu joins La Viola on a permanent deal, ending his brief stint with the Partenopei following his free transfer to the club last summer.
The 36 year-old didn’t make a single appearance for Napoli this season and admitted he’s keen to win a starting place with Vincenzo Italiano’s side.
“The chance (to join Fiorentina) presented itself and after reflecting on it, I believe it was a good opportunity,” Sirigu told the club’s official television channel.
“It wasn’t easy leaving Napoli given how well the season has gone but Fiorentina is a top club and I’m glad this situation ended with everyone happy.”
“I want to be a leader within the team and do what I can to help the younger players. Though, everyone wants to be a starter and my desire is no different. I have respect for Terracciano and he’s deserved his place (as the starter) this season.”
