Salernitana boss Paulo Sousa accepted the blame after his conceded a late goal and were forced to settle for a 1-1 draw against Spezia.
Up 1-0 and on their way to an important three points, a mistake from defender Lorenzo Pirola allowed Eldor Shomurodov to intercept the ball and slide his shot past Memo Ochoa.
Meeting with the press at full-time, Sousa refused to lay blame on Pirola and accepted responsibility for the result.
“Let’s not blame the players, I’m the one who makes the decisions,” he stated.
“There’s no reason to place the fault on one player. Some of the decisions I made didn’t pan out: such as wanting guys that can do more like dribbles like Bohinen and Maggiore out on the pitch.”
“We worked hard in the first half and had the belief we could win. Once we conceded that goal, we fell off and failed to give continuity to our play.”
He added, “Certainly we’re a better team with a higher level than what we showed. We did well during the week at training but today wasn’t our best.”
“It’s clear we’ve create a good group that’s united. If we played to our ability we leave here today with all three points.”
