Milan boss Stefano Pioli applauded his team’s collective effort following their narrow 1-0 victory over Hellas Verona at San Siro.
An early first half goal from Rafael Leao was all the Rossoneri needed to bounce back from last week’s humiliating defeat in the Derby della Madonnina against Inter.
“We always play to win, it’s an important victory because it’s been a exhausting week both from a mental and physical perspective,” Pioli told DAZN.
“Today we met a team that is doing well and played very attacking football. Perhaps our build up play was too slow and we lacked depth on the flanks, but we stayed united and played as team.”
“We worked hard and this victory will do us good. I think the negativity in recent days has been a bit too hyperbolic. I’m the one who’s responsible for the results and I never shy away from that. This team has a strong sense of responsibility and never rushes to point the finger.”
