Milan manager Stefano Pioli had trouble making sense of his team’s struggles following yet another negative result.
The Rossoneri were dismantled 5-2 by Sassuolo this afternoon at the San Siro, less than one week after they were embarrassed 4-0 in the Italian capital by Lazio.
“Ever since the match against Roma we’ve been in a rut tactically, I’ve got to work on so many things and situations,” Pioli told DAZN.
“We’ve got to do something different. I was convinced we could’ve overturned the result at half time but now it’s my turn to try something else, we’re so far below our abilities right now.”
He added, “Everything that’s worked in recent years for us is barely coming off now. Difficult spells like this need to be overcome through hard work and staying united.”
“A ritiro? I’ll make these sorts of decisions once I get a better understanding of what’s happening. I don’t think the Derby will be won or lost based on whether we got into ritiro or not.”
“We’ve never endured a difficult period like this in two years. No one ever enjoy going through times like this but you have to get through them.”
