Following the dismissal of Fernando Santos, Roma boss Jose Mourinho is reportedly being targeted to become the next manager of the Portuguese national team.

Record reports the Special One is the current favorite to land the role and there’s been contact between the sides. However, his contractual situation with the Giallorossi remains the biggest hurdle to any potential agreement.

Mourinho still has one year remaining on his deal with the capital club and there’s a strong possibility he signs a renewal to extend his stay beyond the 2023/24 season.

Nonetheless, Portugal will continue their attempts to convince the 59 year-old to become the next head coach of his country.
