Christian Pulisic took to Instagram to bid farewell to Chelsea after completing his transfer to Milan.
The American international officially joined the Rossoneri today for a fee worth €20 million plus bonuses, leaving the Blues after four years.
“I want to thank all my teammates, coaches , fans and everyone behind the scenes that made these last few years at Chelsea so special,” wrote Pulisic.
“Lifting this trophy at the end of that wonderful champions league run will stick with me forever. Thank you for the memories.”
The attacker also met briefly with the media before taking part in his first training session with Stefano Pioli and his new teammates.
“I’m delighted to be here, and I’m excited and honoured. Everything truly is special at AC Milan. You can breathe in the history, and you just want to come here,” he said.
“The initial talks started when I was away on international duty and, although it took a bit of time to get the agreement sorted, I made the decision to accept early on. I spoke to Pioli and got a real sense that he wanted to have me, and I’m grateful to him.”
Adding, “For me, it’s a new start. I also spoke to a few members of the ownership. AC Milan are really well supported in the US; ever since I was a kid, I can remember the passion for these colours there.”
“My last two seasons at Chelsea were complicated; for many reasons, I didn’t fully show what I can do. Now, I want to start afresh at a big club. I spoke with (Fikayo) Tomori, (Olivier) Giroud and Loftus-Cheek and have an excellent relationship with them.”
“With a player like Giroud, there will be an excellent understanding out on the pitch. It’ll be a pleasure to have him and (Rafael) Leão as teammates.”
