Former Napoli boss Rafael Benitez declared Juventus and Roma as being likely contenders to win the Europa League title.

The Spaniard backed the chances of the two Italian sides to potentially hoist the trophy in next month’s final in Budapest.

“For me, both Juventus and Roma have a chance to make it all the way to final and win the Europa League,” Benitez told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“(Max) Allegri and (Jose) Mourinho know how to win. The difficulties the Bianconeri encountered this season with the points deduction could serve as extra motivation, especially considering this might be the only chance for a trophy.”

He continued, “The performances of the Italian clubs in Europe these past two years has been a really good sign.”

“Continuity is one of the biggest criteria needed when it comes to the corporate management of a club so as to always guarantee an international presence.”
