Villarreal defender Raul Albiol weighed in on the success of his former club, Napoli, so far this season.

The Spaniard originally joined the Partenopei in 2013 from Real Madrid—ultimately spending six years with the club before returning to Spain in 2019.

“It’s incredibly exciting for me to see Napoli first in the standings,” Albiol told Marca.

“It’s absolutely crazy. Hopefully they’ll be able to celebrate their first Scudetto in 32 years as soon as possible.”

Adding, “It’s long overdue and well deserved, the supporters have waited such a long time to win the league. I can’t wait until the math makes it (winning the Scudetto) official.”
