Roma close to finalizing deal for Juventus defender Tiago Djalo

Juventus defender Tiago Djalo has reportedly given his approval for a move to Roma, as negotiations between the two clubs are ongoing for a loan deal with an option to buy.

Roma reached out to Juventus on Monday to discuss the possibility of acquiring Djalo.

According to reports from La Gazzetta dello Sport, Juventus is asking for a €1m loan fee for the season, with a €6m option to buy and a percentage of any future transfer profits. Roma, on the other hand, is willing to pay up to €7m for the buy option but without including a sell-on clause. The final details of the deal are still being worked out by both clubs.

If everything goes smoothly, a final agreement between Roma and Juventus could be reached as early as Tuesday night.

Should the transfer go through, Djalo will become the third Serie A club he has played for, having previously been with Milan as a youth player. This move will also mark the second consecutive season that Juventus has loaned a defender to Roma, following Dean Huijsen’s loan spell in the 2023-24 season before his transfer to AFC Bournemouth.

Djalo joined Juventus from Lille in January for a fee of €3.6m plus bonuses of up to €3.1m. Despite only being at the club for seven months, he has fallen down the pecking order under manager Thiago Motta, who is opting for a back four formation this season.

Due to his limited playing time, Djalo has expressed his desire to leave Juventus this summer.
