Despite an abysmal start to the season, Sampdoria’s Board of Directors reiterated their confidence in the club’s management team.
Late this morning, the club’s board met to discuss a variety of topics, including the team’s on-the-pitch performance. The Blucerchiati are currently on 6 points and sit 19th in the Serie A table—seven points behind 17th placed Spezia.
In the build-up to the meeting, there were whispers the board may decide to shake things up within the club’s senior management—with the likes of sporting director Daniele Faggiano and technical director Carlo Osti rumored to be at risk.
However, these were put to rest after the board published a statement on Samp’s website this afternoon, repeating their belief in the club’s management.
They wrote, “During today’s meeting, the board unanimously confirmed the club’s current corporate governance structure and reiterated its maximum confidence in the work being done by all the executives acting in the exclusive interest of the club.”
“In this historic moment, the board stresses the importance of maintaining a united front between all of the club’s’ components.”
