Discussing his team’s upcoming league showdown against Atalanta, Lazio manager Maurizio Sarri admitted he’s been frustrated by his team’s rollercoaster form.
After their 4-0 dismantling of Milan late last month, the Biancocelesti haven’t won in their previous three games in all competitions. The capital club drew their last two league fixtures versus Fiorentina and Verona—leaving the former Chelsea boss baffled by his team’s inconsistency.
“In terms of evolution, you can only be satisfied with what the team’s done,” commented Sarri during his pre-match press conference.
“Compared to last season this is a completely different team in terms of professionalism and their application. But this is also the reason why you get so frustrated, we always seem to lack the final step in quality.”
Adding, “I think there’s still margins for growth but you have to go looking for them starting with tomorrow’s game—one that I think could be a tremendous one.”
“I’ll echo what Guardiola said: facing Atalanta is like going to the dentist.”
