Sassuolo extended their winning streak to three thanks to their 4-3 victory over Roma at the Stadio Olimpico this evening.
The Neroverdi shocked Jose Mourinho’s side and made them pay for their handful of defensive and individual errors—scoring three goals in the first half.
Attacker Armand Lauriente got Alessio Dionisi’s men off to a quick start. The Frenchman secured a brace inside the opening twenty minutes—both goals coming courtesy of mistakes at the back by the hosts.
Just before the break, the visitors would find a third goal but this time from the penalty spot. Defender Marash Kumbulla was sent off for his reaction after being knee in the groin by Domenico Berardi, the latter scoring the penalty and giving the team a 3-1 lead entering the break.
“Hats off to the lads,” stated Dionisi during his post match interview on DAZN.
“We were very effective this evening despite playing in a stadium that’s always difficult. The crowd always spurs Roma on but we managed to overcome this.”
He added, “I’m very happy for the team. I didn’t like the way we defended towards the end but oh well, you can’t be too critical because winning here is so difficult.”
