Viewers of Serie A will be provided additional insight and transparency into refereeing decisions beginning next season.

Earlier today, the Italian FA (FIGC) and broadcaster DAZN announced a new partnership that will allow the latter to air the audio of the referees during VAR reviews.

The FIGC explained the partnership was created to “tell the story of Italian football from a new and innovative perspective to educate and inform supporters, as well as media members and insiders.”

“We are happy to launch this innovative and fascinating collaboration with DAZN,” stated FIGC chief Gabriele Gravina.

“Thanks to this partnership we’ll begin to explore a new way to attract and interest football fans through the creation of content in which the VAR decisions will be explained through images and especially audios with the referees”.
