Following their relegation from Serie A last season, things haven’t gone according to plan so far this year for Cagliari.

Hoping to immediately return to Italy’s top flight, the Sardinian side currently sit 14th in the table with 22 points, four behind the final promotion playoff place.

After suffering a devastating 2-1 defeat on Sunday to Palermo, president Tommaso Giulini has decided to make a coaching change.

Early this afternoon, the club announced the dismissal of manager Fabio Liverani and his staff with immediate effect while appointing Roberto Muzzi the interim.

Several names are being linked to the post but according to Tuttomercatoweb, Giulini’s top three candidates are Claudio Ranieri, Davide Ballardini, and Beppe Iachini.
