Spezia attacker Eldor Shomurodov expressed his delight after scoring his first goal for the club following his January transfer to the Ligurian side.
The Uzbek international made the most of a late mistake from Salernitana defender Lorenzo Pirola, scoring in the 70th minute to earn the team a 1-1 draw over Paulo Sousa’s side.
“I’m very happy to have scored my first goal with this shirt,” Shomurodov told the club’s official website.
“I’ve really missed the emotions that come from scoring and I’ve been eager to get that feeling back as soon as possible. I’m also glad the goal helped us earn a result.”
He continued, “I’ve been working hard and trying my best even though I’ve been lacking goals. I haven’t let this get me down or demoralised.”
“The only regret is we didn’t earn all three points. We didn’t do well in the first half but we really turned things around after the break. We were quicker and more concrete in our actions.”
“We hit the post twice and ultimately deserved to win this game. But we’ll get back to work so we can achieve salvation as soon as we can.”
