In their fight to avoid relegation, Spezia are closing in on the purchase of highly rated young midfielder Salvatore Esposito of SPAL.

After making his debut with the Italian national team last summer, the 22 year-old and his agent, Mario Giuffredi, have pushed for an exit from Ferrara, causing a rift between the player and the club, including manager Daniele De Rossi.

Multiple sources from the Serie B outfit informed IF24 they’re nearing an agreement with Luca Gotti’s side for the permanent sale of Esposito.

The clubs are still discussing the final details but the total operation is expected to cost a total of €4 million with the midfielder signing a contract that will run until June 2027.

In addition, SPAL are pushing Spezia to include young attacker Leandro Sanca into the deal. The 22 year-old Portuguese attacker has made only 3 appearances for the Ligurians this season but is highly rated by SPAL’s sporting director Armando Ortoli.
