Ex-Roma attacker Nicolo Zaniolo has made it clear he wants to return to Serie A this summer.
The 24 year-old spent this past season at Aston Villa on loan from Galatasaray, but the Premier League side decided against making the deal permanent. However, the attacker is optimistic a solution will be found to secure an exit out of the Turkish side.
“I’ve made it clear to both Galatasaray and my agent, Claudio Vigorelli, that I want to return to Serie A,” Zaniolo told La Gazzetta dello Sport.
“I’m optimistic a solution will be found.”
As for landing spots, Atalanta and Fiorentina are dueling for the attacker’s signature, but La Dea hold a slight advantage in the race after presenting a more intriguing offer.
Meanwhile, Zaniolo was asked his opinion on former teammate Douglas Luiz, who’s on the brink of completing a permanent transfer from Aston Villa to Juventus.
“When it’s official, I’ll send him a message,” he stated to the newspaper. “We’ve always had a good relationship in Birmingham.
Adding, “It’s a great signing for Juventus. Douglas Luiz is a top player, a strong footballer on an international level which he proved all throughout the previous campaign.”
“He can play in several roles. This past season he played in a midfield duo or as a mezz’ala, but he’s got so much quality that he’s even capable of playing in a more advanced, attacking role.”
