AC Milan presented new addition Tijjani Reijnders to the media earlier today after his move from AZ Alkmaar was made official yesterday.

The Dutchman expressed positive first impressions of the club and stated he won’t let the fear of making mistakes hold him back.

“I received a very warm welcome, it’s been a great few days: I spoke with Pioli, with my teammates. I’m very pleased by my first impressions,” he began.

“Legendary players have passed through this club, players that I have looked up to since I was a boy. I won’t pretend to compare myself to them, but I hope I can also do great things here.”

He continued, “I spoke with Moncada and Pioli, they explained what they expect from me and made the choice a lot easier. This is a massive club, for whom I am proud to play.”

“I want to have confidence, on and off the pitch. I’m not afraid of making mistakes, I will play with a smile, I want people to see my smile and think that I’m doing well here. I’m a modern midfielder, I’d probably label myself more of a box-to-box type, more attacking than defensive.”

“I like to build play and create chances for my teammates, that’s what I do best. I want to improve on a technical and tactical level. The manager wants two offensive midfielders who are able to create, session after session, we will find the right balance between ourselves.”
